The National Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, Umar Damagum, on Tuesday, led members of the party’s National Working Committee and Board of Trustees on a sympathy visit to the Yobe State Governor, Mai Buni.
The visit was in response to the recent Mafa attack and the flooding that has affected parts of the state.
Some gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents on Sunday, September 1, looted and set ablaze shops and houses in Mafa village in the Tarmuwa Local Government Area of the state.
More so, no fewer than 20 persons died as a result of devastating floods that ravaged Bade LG of the state, according to the Chairman, Babagana Ibrahim.
During the visit, Damagum commended the governor for fostering a sense of unity and inclusiveness among the state’s citizens, regardless of political affiliations.
“I must appreciate you for giving everyone a sense of belonging and fulfillment, despite our political differences,” he said.
In a statement released by the Director-General, Media and Press Affairs, Mamman Mohammed, the PDP chairman expressed the party’s solidarity with the people of the state, acknowledging the pain and trauma caused by the senseless killings and the hardships resulting from the floods.
Similarly, former Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, also paid a condolence visit to the governor.
He offered prayers for the repose of the souls of the victims of the Mafa attack and the floods and condoled the grieving families.
