The New Nigeria People’s Party on Monday swore in five members of the newly constituted caretaker committee saddled with the task of running the affairs of the Oyo State chapter.
This was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja by the NNPP National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson.
Johnson affirmed that the inauguration occasion was witnessed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Department of State Security.
The move comes four days after the National Working Committee of the NNPP dissolved the executive committees in five states.
The affected states were Taraba, Gombe, Benue, Oyo and Bauchi.
The statement read, “Earlier this morning in Ibadan, a five-member caretaker committee of the Oyo State Chapter headed by Chief Motunde Fajuyi was inaugurated in Ibadan.
“We want to thank you all for accepting to serve on this caretaker committee. We must all continue to sacrifice for the growth and repositioning of the party. Your party has called on you and we know you will rise to the task.”
Continuing, Johnson charged the committee to reach out to all members in the state and work to grow the party membership base.
Shortly after administering the oath of allegiance and office, Fajuyi stated that they saw their appointment as an honour and promised to live up to expectations.
She said, “We will do our very best and if possible work to bring any factions together and ensure that we have a solid base for the party.”
