The Gombe State government has donated N50 million naira to the Yobe State government to support efforts in providing relief to victims of the recent Mafa insurgency attack and widespread flooding across the state.
Representing Governor Inuwa Yahaya, Gombe State Deputy Governor, Mr Manesiah Jatau, described the attack on the Mafa community as tragic and unfortunate.
The visit was detailed in a statement by the Director General of Media and Press Affairs to the Executive Governor of Yobe State Mamman Mohammed.
“The government and people of Gombe State share in the sorrow of the victims affected by both the insurgency attack and the devastating floods that have claimed lives destroyed homes, and ravaged farmlands,” Jatau said.
Yahaya noted that the N50 million donation is intended to assist the Yobe State Government in providing much-needed aid to the affected individuals and communities.
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni expressed his gratitude for the support from the Gombe State government, emphasising the importance of solidarity during challenging times.
“I am deeply appreciative of this show of sympathy and brotherhood from the government of Gombe State. We will continue to cherish this support, care, and visit,” Buni stated.
He also highlighted that security challenges are a global issue requiring collective efforts to address effectively.
