Security operatives on Saturday morning were strict in carrying out the no-movement order by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun as the Edo State governorship election kicked off.
The presence of a combined team of the men of the Nigeria Police and Nigerian Army was seen on major streets of Benin.
On Ekhewan Road, the security personnel turned back some vehicles while the ones occupied by journalists were scrutinised before they were allowed to move.
Also, some portions of the Ringroad axis, Sakponba Road, and Ihama Road, especially where voting will take place were blocked.
Some residents were also seen trekking to their polling units and were stopped by security personnel to ascertain their mission.
A resident who introduced herself as Adesuwa noted that the security seemed to be on the high but noted that it was good to prevent hoodlums from moving around to cause mayhem.
