A music executive and CEO of Richie Music Empire, Don Richie, has said that his primary motivation for establishing the record label was to provide a platform for talented artistes to showcase their skills and reach a wider audience.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, he said, “I established the label to provide a platform for talented artistes to showcase their skills and reach a wider audience. I chose now to make this move because I believe the Nigerian music industry is ripe enough for innovation and disruption. Our vision is to become a leading record label in the country, known for producing high-quality music and nurturing talented artistes. Our mission is to provide a supportive environment for our artistes to grow and succeed. We set ourselves apart by focusing on artiste development and offering a more personalised approach.”
He also stated that it was challenging setting up the record label. “Setting up the label has been challenging, but we’re navigating the industry by building strong relationships with stakeholders and staying focused on our vision. We will continue to adapt and innovate to stay ahead,” he said.
Reflecting on the long term goals of the label, he said, “Our long-term goals include expanding our roster, exploring other areas of entertainment, and becoming a household name. We plan to sign more artistes and collaborate with local and international labels.”
Advising budding artistes he stated, “My advice to up-and-coming artists is to stay true to themselves, work hard and persevere. They should build a strong online presence, engage with fans, and seek opportunities to collaborate and learn.”
