The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, has deployed personnel to support the Edo State Command and other security agencies in providing security for the electorate as well as officials taking part in the Edo State Governorship election on Saturday.
In a press statement on Friday, the Head of Media and Tactical Ops, NSCDC Anambra State Command, Okadigbo Edwin, said that the deployment is in line with the directive of the Commandant-General, Dr Ahmed Audi.
He said, “The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, Olatunde Maku, said the deployment is in line with the directive of the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi.
“Debriefing the personnel, Maku emphasised the importance of neutrality and professionalism during the election.
“I must warn that your role in Edo State is to ensure a peaceful exercise. Do not compromise on the field, be transparent, but firm in discharging your duties.
“You are to operate within the code of conduct. Have it at the back of your mind that any act that could bring the Corps to disrepute would not be tolerated.”
He urged the electorates to troop out in their numbers to exercise their franchise without fear of intimidation or molestation and to promptly report crime or any electoral offence they observe to law enforcement agents nearest to them.
