Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa is expected to make his first appearance in a Liverpool shirt since leaving Juventus over the summer.
According to a statement obtained from Fabrizio Romano’s X handle on Monday, Liverpool coach Arne Slot said, “He is in the team selection for tomorrow. Don’t expect him to start, but he can make a few minutes.”
The PUNCH Online reported that the winger completed a summer transfer from Juventus in a deal worth over £12.5m last month. However, having not played competitive football since June, he wasn’t on the bench for the shock defeat against Nottingham Forest. It is believed that Slot is taking a cautious approach regarding the Italian’s fitness.
A start is unlikely given Chiesa’s lack of recent action, as well as the competition for attacking places in Slot’s lineup, but fans will certainly be keen to see Liverpool’s only summer signing get onto the pitch.
Liverpool begin their 2024/2025 Champions League campaign against AC Milan tomorrow at San Siro in Italy.
